2025 Kerner Winery Klaus Böhme 

It is characterised by fruity notes of pear, juicy orange and a subtle hint of redcurrant, rounded off by a delicately accentuated acidity. The wine is produced in the ‘Veitsgrube’ vineyard in Burgscheidungen, which is part of Laucha. The ‘Burgscheidunger Veitsgrube’ vineyard is situated on a sunny south-facing slope directly above the River Unstrut. Its name harks back to the medieval Veit’s dances, which were once performed to ward off evil spirits. Today, things are much more peaceful there: on the gently to moderately steep slopes, rare orchids grow here and there, attracting many insects. The soil consists mainly of firm loam and clay, interspersed with many visible limestone and dolomite stones. This small vineyard produces elegant, light wines in which the natural flavour of each grape variety comes into its own.
