Pinotin
Pinotin was bred in 1991 by the breeder and vineyard owner Valentin Blattner from Soyhières in the Swiss canton of Jura. It was selected at the Freytag vine breeding centre in the municipality of Neustadt/Lachen-Speyerdorf in the Pfalz.
After several years of trial evaluation, the grape variety Pinotin was registered for variety protection in 2002 and for classification in 2010.
As its name and parent (Pinot Noir - Pinot in) suggest, the Pinotin grape variety is a Burgundy type among the varieties of fungus-resistant grape varieties. In the glass, it has more colour density than its parent. The flavour is dominated by aromas of forest fruits, surrounded by soft tannins. The wines are often described as "all-rounders" because they are well received by a wide range of connoisseurs.
